hot springs

I went to the campsite after dinner and set up my tarp over the bike.  Got ready, crawled into the bivy, and I was pretty immediately out.  until midnight, when it started pouring pretty hard.  The tarp worked great though.  I stayed completely dry and got to enjoy the sound of the rain.  I was actually recording it when the train came along.  The tracks are right next to the campsite, which is near the road, so the train had to blow its whistle.  i'm glad i was already awake :)

I woke up at 6 and packed up the site. I had some of the raw meal + chia seed breakfast with Ezekiel bread and a banana and got on the road by 7.  I'm instantly climbing some pretty considerable mountains.  and descending, of course... new record... 45.37.  at 7:30am.  I was plenty awake by that point.

The climbs were tough, but manageable.  I was really trying to be careful with my knee, though.  No use injuring myself this early in the trip.  Anyway, I was on my way to Asheville, which was only 35 miles away.  So it was a short day.
I have more pics, so I'll continue in the next post...
