Lunch stop

Maine has a thing for 'take outs' and every business somehow uses the
pun 'maine-ly'. Local hair shops are also prone to puns, but that
seems to be universal.
I'm 36 miles in and I'm eating a sandwich.
Oh, and this is my hand.

  1. There is a hair salon near us called "Scarlet O'haira's". That is all.

  2. Also, you never expounded on the cop hitting you with the foundation stone as he was breaking down the door. Please to be elaborating. Thank you kind sir.

  3. You are correct. (about the cop story. and, i assume, about the salon.)
well, I was crossing the bridge out of Portland and there was a narrow foot path. I ride around the corner and I see out of the corner of my eye a 10" rock bouncing and rolling into the path.
I think I actually let out a verbal "huh?" and narrowly dodged it.
I look up and there's a house and a cop banging on the door. He looks at me and says "sorry, I didn't see you there" and keeps on trying to get in. I ride off.
It seems to me that whether he saw me or not, there is no justification for throwing this rock onto the path. I wondered for a few minutes afterward what would have happened if I hadn't dodged it.
This story is small but still absurd.
